EU law-making update #9

With most of January already behind us, I’m restarting my regular EU updates.

🔹The Commission adopted interesting new proposals to start the year, including the revision of the Cybersecurity Act, the Digital Networks Act and a legal instrument for loans to Ukraine. As always, all are on my law tracker.

🔹10 simplification omnibus packages containing 28 laws in total are now moving through the legislative process. I have the full overview here.

🔹New consultations have opened, though I’m particularly highlighting this one on better regulation (Deadline: 4 February)

🔹January is a busy month for implementation. I published the full list of all (planned) application dates of EU laws here. I counted 255 legal changes for January 2026 alone, more have been added in the meantime.

🔹As this is the first update of 2026, I can promise: stay tuned for more. The tracker will be getting a big upgrade with more data and functionality soon.
