EU law-making update #7

Updates from my EU law tracker – summarising what’s new across the EU’s legislative pipeline. Some highlights:

🔹The Commission launched 10 more calls for evidence/public consultations to run over the holiday period, most ending in early Jan (slide 2). This adds to the 22 new calls last week – see last update.

🔹The Commission published its eighth omnibus simplification package. It is focused on environment legislation, with a total of six legislative proposals (slide 3).

🔹The Council is finalising its work for the year, having just agreed a long list of negotiating positions (slide 4). Work on Omnibus II on investment is also nearing completion, with the Council adopting its position on 11 December.

🔹Lawmakers frequently choose December and January as the start or end dates for legal requirements. This explains the long list of upcoming legal changes on slide 8 (there are more).
